"A Shoulder to Cry On" is a ballad performed by American singer-songwriter Tommy Page. Released in 1988, the song became one of Page's early hits, peaking at #29 on the Billboard Hot 100.^[1] Lyrically, the song is about a man who will be "a shoulder to cry on" for his friend (possibly his lover).

"A Shoulder to Cry On" was written by Page solely. The song is one of Page's early songs. Years before the song was released, one of Page's friend was very sick. To show her that his thoughts were with her, he composed this ballad. Page confesses that whenever he writes a love song, it is about someone who doesn't exist. However, he explained that the song was not about his imagination, but about his friend who was very sick at that time

Second time singing this song after the first time I sung right after our beloved late George Michael passed away last Christmas 2016. As you can see some part of the song is sad ending and that's the part I can relate to his departed from us. I am using slightly new way sing this song with much more relax. Last week some of my friends requested me to sing in front of them and I sung this song with great impression unto them. They told me keep this practice on this song and might stand a chance to be on stage on my next xfactor. I did really enjoy singing his song even many of his song are sad songs.

It was released as a single and became a huge commercial success on both sides of the Atlantic and on both sides of the Pacific. Unlike most of the other Wham! singles (except "Wham Rap!" and "Club Tropicana"), it was co-written by Andrew Ridgeley, the other member of the duo. The two had written it together as developing artists three years earlier in Watford, England.^[2]

The song went through at least two rounds of production. The first was during a trip Michael made to Muscle Shoals, Alabama, where he went to work with producer Jerry Wexler at FAME Studios. Michael was unhappy with the version that was originally produced and decided to re-record and produce the song himself, this time coming up with the version that was finally released. The version Wexler produced did, was released later in the year, as a (4:41) B-side "Special Version" on 12" in the UK and Japan.

The record label Innervision were going to put out the Jerry Wexler version of Careless Whisper after the Club Fantastic Megamix as far back as 1983. Dick Leahy stated in George Michael's autobiography^[3] that while he couldn't stop the release of the Club Fantastic Megamix, he could stop the release of this single on the basis that as a publisher they "have the right to grant the first license of the recording of a tune of which he controls the copyright".^[3] He couldn't do anything about the Club Fantastic Megamix because it was already released material. He said: "We knew how big that song could be so it was necessary to upset a few people to stop it."^[3]

The officially released single, a mid-tempo sentimental ballad with a saxophone solo by Steve Gregory, was issued in August 1984, entering the UK singles chart at number 12. Within two weeks, it was at number one, ending a nine-week run at the top for "Two Tribes" by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. It stayed at number one for three weeks, going on to become the fifth best-selling single of 1984 in the United Kingdom; it was outsold only by the two Frankie Goes to Hollywood tracks "Two Tribes" and "Relax," Stevie Wonder with "I Just Called to Say I Love You," and Band Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas." The song also topped the charts in 25 other countries, including the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States in February 1985 under the credit "Wham! featuring George Michael." Spending three weeks at the top in America, the song was later named Billboard's number-one song of 1985.

On the subject of his personal opinion of the song, Michael said in 1991 that it "was not an integral part of my emotional development"^[4] which he found sad because of the song meaning so much to so many people. He went on to say: "It disappoints me that you can write a lyric very flippantly—and not a particularly good lyric—and it can mean so much to so many people. That's disillusioning for a writer."^[4]

Jesus To A Child.

The last time I sung this song was last Nov 2016 and never expected our beloved late George Michael would pass away on the same year 2016. Whatever the reason his departed from this planet Earth, I wish him continue his singing in the heaven above. He was born in the year of Rabbit and the COCKY year came in around Nov or Dec 2016 and his year of Birth had a major CRASHED with the year of COCK 2017. I did some studies on Astrology and I knew some of these stuffs. This time I can sing this song much better due to the fact I did missed our beloved talented musical artist very much. My voices are getting better as the days goes by and really enjoying singing all George Michael songs. I am hoping someday I can have a cover version of his old album OLDER and had that for Charity.

"Jesus to a Child" is a song by British singer George Michael. The song peaked at number one in the United Kingdom^[2] and Australia, and at number 2 in the mainland European charts. The song has also become George Michael's highest-direct entry in the American charts. The song is one of George Michael's best-known songs and was included on the 1996 album Older. It was a melancholy tribute to his lover Anselmo Feleppa.
"Jesus to a Child" was the first of six singles from the album Older. It was Michael's sixth UK number one, although only the third as an entirely solo performer.

After Michael's death in 2016, Dame Esther Rantzen, founder of the charity ChildLine, revealed that Michael had secretly donated all of the single's royalties to the charity. She said "George helped us to reach out to hundreds of thousands of children through his generosity. I met him a couple of times, he approached us, rather than us going cap in hand to him, but it was an intensely personal gift. He didn’t want it to be known or to be part of his image."^[3] She told BBC News that "he really wanted to keep his help secret, it was an intensely personal gift. It meant we could answer more children."^[4]

Although it was not officially released until 1996, Michael unveiled the song in 1994 during the inaugural MTV Europe Music Awards, where he performed it live in front of Berlin's Brandenburg Gate.

The song was Michael's first self-penned hit in his homeland for almost four years and entered the UK Singles Chart straight at number one in January 1996. It became his first solo single to enter the UK Singles Chart at the top,^[2] his first solo number one from a studio album (all his previous solo number ones had been one-off projects, either during the Wham! years or as a guest or co-vocalist) and, on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, it became the highest new entry (number 7) by a British artist for more than 25 years. It was also Michael's longest UK top 40 single at almost seven minutes long.v

The song was a melancholy tribute to Michael's Brazilian lover Anselmo Feleppa, whom he met when performing in Rio de Janeiro in 1991. Feleppa died two years later from an AIDS-related brain haemorrhage. Michael had been unable to write for the next 18 months as a consequence of his grief, but then penned the words to "Jesus to a Child" in little more than an hour, indicating that the time was right to move on with his life. The song is written with a rhythm and harmony that is influenced by the Brazilian bossa nova style.

The exact identity of the song's subject—and the nature of their relationship—was cause for a certain amount of innuendo at the time, as Michael had not confirmed his homosexuality and did not do so until 1998. Until his death on Christmas Day 2016,^[5] Michael would consistently dedicate the song to Feleppa before performing it live.

You've Been In Love (Cover Version of George Michael)

You've Been In Love ...

Again I am singing this song as I am still learning and hopefully in the near future I can be one of the singer voice alike of our Beloved late George Michael. I will be singing some of his 15 songs and this is one of the song I will be working on it to be one of my signature song. Last night I also did the same song too. The song titled Father Figure I had a great improvement over it but still have much rooms to improve on it.

This song is very dear to me. AS to be more understandable what went through on George Michael, when his both beloved parents gone, he caught up in the situation he was unable to cope. From the concert I have seen, he was very closed to his beloved late mommy and that's also similar to my case too. Fortunately I did a lot of meditation and had learned some of the spiritual skills deal with the loss of the loved one. So I would like to dedicate this lovely sad song to his beloved late mommy and also my beloved late mommy too.

"You Have Been Loved" (George Michael/David Austin) / "The Strangest Thing '97" (George Michael) is a double A-side single by the dance-pop artist George Michael. Both songs are from his 1996 album Older. The single reached #2 on the UK charts, only behind Elton John's "Candle in the Wind" '97 charity single. The song was Michael's second double A-side single, after "Older / I Can't Make You Love Me", released the same year.

Two singles were released for the double A-side. The cover for the first shows Michael cross-legged on a black chaise longue in a room with brown-tiled walls. The cover for the second is just a close-up of the first cover, and does not show the chaise longue. The single version is referred to as "The Strangest Thing '97" instead of simply "The Strangest Thing" of the album version because the single version is a remixed/re-recorded, more up-tempo dance track.

Michael wrote the song about his lover, Anselmo Feleppa, who died of an AIDS-related illness in 1993.^[1] Reviewing Michael in concert in 2012, in The Guardian's Dave Simpson wrote, "'Waiting for That Day' and 'You Have Been Loved' – dedicated to his late mother and lover and "all the other people who have been lost since this song was written" (in 1996) – are unusually moving."^[2]
