"My Heart Will Go On", also called the "Love Theme from Titanic", is the main theme song to James Cameron's blockbuster film Titanic. Its music was composed by James Horner, its lyrics were written by Will Jennings, and it was produced by Walter Afanasieff and Simon Franglen;[1] recorded by Celine Dion and released in 1997.[2]

Originally released in 1997 on Dion's album Let's Talk About Love and the Titanic soundtrack album, the romantic song went to number 1 all over the world, including the United States, Canada, Ireland, United Kingdom and Australia. "My Heart Will Go On" was released in Australia and Germany on December 8, 1997, and in the rest of the world in January and February 1998.[3]

The song became Dion's biggest hit, and one of the best-selling singles of all time, and was the world's best-selling single of 1998. The music video was directed by Bille Woodruff and released at the end of 1997. Due to the song's widespread popularity when it was released, it is considered to be Dion's signature song.[4] It was also included in the list of Songs of the Century, by the Recording Industry Association of America and the National Endowment for the Arts.

James Horner had originally composed the music for the song as an instrumental motif which he used in several scenes during Titanic; the main theme of the song being inspired by the song Flying Dutchman by Jethro Tull.[citation needed] He then wanted to prepare a full vocal version of it, for use in the end credits of the film. Director James Cameron did not want such a song, but Will Jennings went ahead anyway and wrote the lyrics. When Dion originally heard the song, she did not want to record it.[5] Horner showed the piano sketch to Simon Franglen, who was working with him on electronic textures and synthesizers for the film score. Franglen, who had, himself, worked with Dion for several years on many of her major hits to date,[6] programmed and arranged an extensive demo to take to Dion.

In Hitmaker: The Man and His Music by Tommy Mottola, he claims that Dion recorded the song in one take, and that demo is what was released. Mottola states that since so much money was on the line for Cameron's film that Cameron felt obligated to include a theme song to promote the movie.[citation needed]

Dion's manager and husband René Angélil convinced her to sing on this demo version, which she had not done for many years. Horner waited until Cameron was in an appropriate mood before presenting him with the song. After playing it several times, Cameron declared his approval, even though he worried that he might be criticized for "going commercial at the end of the movie". Cameron also wanted to appease anxious studio executives and "saw that a hit song from his movie could only be a positive factor in guaranteeing its completion."[7]

The song is written in the key of E major, though the chorus is in the relative key of C# minor. The verses follow the chord progression of E—Bsus4—Aadd9—E—B. The chorus has the chord progression of C♯m—B—A—B. The song modulates to F minor in the final chorus, and ends in the key of Ab major.[8] It contains heavy emphasis on the instrumental arranging. Usage of flute is prominent, backed by melodic use of strings and rhythm guitars.

Every night in my dreams
I see you, I feel you
That is how I know you go on

Far across the distance
And spaces between us
You have come to show you go on

Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on

Love can touch us one time
And last for a lifetime
And never let go till we're gone

Love was when I loved you
One true time I hold to
In my life we'll always go on

Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on

You're here, there's nothing I fear
And I know that my heart will go on
We'll stay forever this way
You are safe in my heart
And my heart will go on and on.

My Heart Will Go On (Cover Version of Celine Dion)

My Heart Will Go On ..

Seventeen years after it was first released, "My Heart Will Go On" remains one of the biggest theme songs in movie history. But the romantic ballad from Titanic nearly slammed into an iceberg of its own en route to the top of the pop charts.

Oscar-winning composer James Horner, who died Monday in a plane crash in California at the age of 61, famously composed the song in secret, after director James Cameron initially balked at the idea of including a pop tune in his maritime blockbuster.

"[James] did not want it to be a Hollywood movie that had violins soaring away around it and a song pasted in at the end," Horner told Empire magazine earlier this year.
"But when you see the last scene of the movie, my job is to keep the audience in their seats and not let them off the hook," he added. "It's my personal belief I should never let anyone put their coats on. They have to be as in it as they can be. As I started writing this eight-minute sequence, I was saying, 'How am I going to do this? Just another orchestra reprise?' It had to be very intimate, very emotional."

In what has since become a heralded snippet of cinema lore, Horner – working with lyricist Will Jennings – decided to take the film's most memorable musical strain and commit words to it. The song ultimately came together in a vivid burst of creativity in the spring of 1997, just as Horner was wrapping up the orchestral tapestry that would eventually become the film's soundtrack.

Finding a voice for the melody proved to be a no-brainer for Horner. "For me, the only person that could do it was Céline [Dion]," he once told Billboard.

Indeed, the songbird, who was coming off a string of mid-'90s hits, was instantly hooked by the song – so hooked, in fact, that she agreed to secretly record a demo with Horner so they could make a strong case to Cameron to include it in the movie.

The tune was recorded in a single, emotional take that left everyone in tears.

"She started singing the song and it was just electrifying," Horner told Billboard of the recording session, which was held in New York five weeks after they first met. "By the end of it, we were all emotionally shook up. She started crying while singing it two-thirds of the way through the song, and then everybody in the room was crying. She was singing it like her life depended on it."

Their efforts paid off: Horner eventually presented Cameron with their clandestine project – a passionate bid on behalf of a simple, catchy melody that would eventually strike a rousing chord with audiences.

"I proceeded secretly with Céline until the time when Jim felt comfortable enough with his own film," Horner told Empire magazine. "The day finally came when I played it for him. He played it for his family, who loved it, but he was still not convinced. It took him another month and a half to be convinced. We took it to New York and previewed it and the audience was in tears and tatters at the end. That's when he decided the song would be in the movie, when he realized it was a cinematic tool and it wasn't a gimmick. He had to see it with an audience to believe that."

To say that the tune found its sea legs would be an understatement: "My Heart Will Go On" exploded onto the pop-culture radar, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on Feb. 28, 1998, and propelling the Titanic album to a 16-week run at No. 1 – an unprecedented feat for a largely orchestral soundtrack album. The tune eventually won Best Original Song at the 1998 Oscars.

"When I was ready to sing the song, I had tears in my eyes, and I could feel my knees shaking because I was getting very emotional," Celine Dion later told Cosmopolitan. "Singing the theme was a magic moment for me."

All By Myself (Cover Version of Celine Dion)

All By Myself ....

All By Myself was caught my great attention when I accidentally listen to his cover version of Celine Dion.  Ricky sang this song so well and greatly impressed me.  Surprisingly I never expected he can sing this song better than Celine Dion.  I was thinking did he re-invent the song All By Myself as he seems sang better than Celine Dion.  What I did was I downloaded his version from youtube and do a simple survey on all the version Celine Dion had sang before.  End result of my survey, I decided to learn from Ricky instead of Celine Dion on this particular song.

"All by Myself" is a power ballad by American artist Eric Carmen released in 1975. The verse is based on the second movement (Adagio sostenuto) of Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Opus 18. The chorus borrows from the song "Let's Pretend" that Carmen had recorded with the Raspberries in 1972.[3]

The song was the first released on Carmen's first solo LP after leaving the power pop group the Raspberries and was released as the first single in December 1975 to great success. It reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 1 on Cash Box Top 100 Singles and number 3 in Canada. The single sold more than one million copies in the United States and was certified gold by the RIAA in April 1976.[4] "All By Myself" was Carmen's first of eight U.S. Top 40 hits. In the UK, however, this was his only Top 40 hit, peaking at number 12. In a 2006 poll for UK's Five programme Britain's Favourite Break-up Songs Eric Carmen's version of this song was voted seventeenth.
Celine Dion version

One of the most notable cover versions of "All by Myself" was recorded by Celine Dion in 1996. It was the fourth (or third, depending on the country) hit single from her album Falling into You.[17] Produced by David Foster at Compass Point Studios in The Bahamas, it was released on October 7, 1996 in Europe, January 13, 1997 in Australia, and March 11, 1997 in North America.

There were three music videos made. The first one was released in October 1996. It contains fragments from Dion's photo session for the Falling into You album cover and some scenes from her Live à Paris concert. It was made for the single version and it was directed by Nigel Dick. The second version was made for the UK market with the same white T-shirt scenes but adding footage of a young couple in love at Christmas time, instead of scenes from Dion's concert. This was made for the album version. Finally, a live music video was released in March 1997 in North America (from the 1996 concert in Montreal).

Dion performed this song many times during world tours, TV shows and music events such as the Grammy Awards (1997), Billboard Music Awards (1997) and Bambi Awards (1996). A performance from her 2008-2009 Taking Chances Tour can be found on the Taking Chances World Tour: The Concert DVD/CD. It is currently included in the setlist of Dion's Las Vegas residency show Céline which premiered on March 15, 2011. The song was also performed during the 2013 Sans attendre Tour; the Quebec City performance was included in the Céline... une seule fois / Live 2013 CD/DVD.[18]

Dion recorded also a Spanish version of "All by Myself," called "Sola Otra Vez" (English: By Myself Again). It was added to the Falling into You Latin American/Spanish edition, and as a B-side to other singles from that album. This version became available worldwide on Dion's later compilation The Collector's Series, Volume One. The CD single was released in 1996 in Brazil only. Dion's "Sola Otra Vez" was selected the number one Spanish language cover of an English pop song by TheSpanishVersion.Org.[19]

The "All by Myself" single became one of Dion's biggest hits in the United States, reaching number 1 on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks (for three weeks) and the Latin Pop Airplay (two weeks). It peaked at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 (number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay and number 5 on the Hot 100 Singles Sales). It was also a top 10 hit in France, United Kingdom, Wallonia in Belgium and the Republic of Ireland. In Canada, "All by Myself" was released as a promotional single only, hitting number 1 on the Adult Contemporary Chart. "All by Myself" was certified gold in the U.S. (500,000), and silver in the UK (200,000) and France (165,000).

The track was included on some editions of Dion's greatest hits All the Way… A Decade of Song in 1999 and on My Love: Essential Collection in 2008.

This version also features on the ITV game show Take Me Out if the contestant leaves the show without a date.

Lyrics

When I was young
I never needed anyone
And making love was just for fun
Those days are gone
Livin' alone
I think of all the friends I've known
When I dial the telephone
Nobody's home

All by myself
Don't wanna be
All by myself
Anymore

Hard to be sure
Sometimes I feel so insecure
And loves so distant and obscure
Remains the cure

All by myself
Don't wanna be
All by myself
Anymore

All by myself
Don't wanna live
All by myself
Anymore

When I was young
I never needed anyone
Making love was just for fun
Those days are gone

All by myself
Don't wanna be
All by myself
Anymore

All by myself
Don't wanna live
Oh
Don't wanna live
By myself, by myself
Anymore
By myself
Anymore
Oh
All by myself
Don't wanna live
I never, never, never
Needed anyone
