Lonely Is The Night (Cover Version of Air Supply)

Lonely Is The Night

My First attempt to record it even I have sang this song a few hundred times in the bathroom.

"Lonely Is the Night" was written by Albert Hammond with famous songwriter Diane Warren, while production was done by John Boylan.[1] Lyrically, the song talks about the difficulty of dealing with a long-distance relationship. In the beginning, Russell Hitchcock sings that he thought he'd live well without his girlfriend, "Really thought that I could live without you, Really thought that I could make it on my own," he sings. However, he realizes that he's lost without the one he loves, "Now I'm so lost without you, now you're not here and now I know." In the chorus, he sings about how difficult it is to spend the night away from his love. "Lonely is the night when I'm not with you, lonely is the night ain't no light shining through, till you're in my arms till you're here by my side, lonely am I."[2]

"Lonely Is the Night" is a pop ballad by Australian-British band Air Supply, released in 1986, as the lead-single from their ninth studio album, Hearts in Motion (1986). The ballad was written by Albert Hammond and Diane Warren, while John Boylan produced it. "Lonely Is the Night" was a minor success in the United States, reaching number 76 on the Billboard's Hot 100 and 12 on the Adult Contemporary chart.

Really thought that I could live without you
Really thought that I could make it on my own
Sent you away, yeah, I said, I didn't need you
I let you go, I let you go, I let you go
Now, I'm so lost without you
Now, you're not here and now I know

Lonely is the night, when I'm not with you
Lonely is the night, ain't no light shining through
Till you're in my arms, till you're here by my side
Lonely am I

Never thought that I that I would need you
Never thought that I that I'd be missing you
Gotta get you back, I just got to find a way now
To let you know, to let you know, to let you know
That I'm so lost without you
And now this world it just ain't right

Lonely is the night, when I'm not with you
Lonely is the night, ain't no light shining through
Till you're in my arms, till you're here by my side
Lonely am I

I can make it through the day, I can fake it okay
I just smile and pretend, and I tell myself I'll be alright
But lonely is the night, lonely is the night

Now, I'm so lost without you
Now, you're not here and now I know

Lonely is the night, when I'm not with you
Lonely is the night, ain't no light shining through
Till you're in my arms, till you're here by my side
Lonely is the night

Lonely is the night, when I'm not with you
Lonely is the night, ain't no light shining through
Till you're in my arms, till you're here by my side
Lonely is the night

Lonely is the night, when I'm not with you
Lonely is the night, ain't no light shining through
Till you're in my arms, till you're here by my side

Goodbye (Cover Version of Air Supply)

Goodbye

GOODBYE is the one of the oldest song I took it seriously and often sang that in the bathroom. One of the local singer Jennifer Yen whom I met her at one of the local church that advised me to sing in the bathroom and listen to the original song as many as possible. I did followed her advice and very grateful to thank her. Later in the year 2000 I took back piano lessons and learned this song by hard and by ear. I do have very attractive piano teacher and talented too. She was graduated from University of Adelaide, Australia. And this song goes to her.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Air Supply is an Australian soft rock duo, consisting of British-born singer-songwriter and guitarist Graham Russell and lead vocalist Russell Hitchcock. They had a succession of hits worldwide, including eight Top Ten hits in the United States, in the early 1980s. They formed in Australia in 1975 and have included various accompanying musicians and singers. The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) inducted Air Supply into their Hall of Fame on 1 December, 2013 at the annual ARIA Awards.

Chrissie Hammond, Russell Hitchcock, and Graham Russell met in May 1975 while performing in the Australian production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical, Jesus Christ Superstar.[1][2] With Hammond and Hitchcock on vocals and Russell on guitar, they formed a harmony vocal group in Melbourne, while the show was still playing.[3] Hammond left the vocal group to form Cheetah and was replaced by Jeremy Paul (ex-Soffrok and later Divinyls) on bass guitar and vocals in 1976.[1] Together, Hitchcock, Russell and Paul formed Air Supply. The group's first single, "Love and Other Bruises", was released in November, 1976 and peaked at No. 6 on the Australian Kent Music Report Singles Chart in January 1977.[4] It was followed by Air Supply, their debut album, in December, which reached No. 17 on the Kent Music Report Albums Chart and achieved gold in Australia.[1][4] The album was produced by Peter Dawkins (Spectrum, Ross Ryan) with Air Supply line-up as Hitchcock, Paul, Russell and drummer Jeff Browne, guitarist Mark McEntee and keyboardist, arranger Adrian Scott.[1][2] Other singles were "If You Knew Me", "Empty Pages" and "Feel the Breeze" but none reached the Top 40.[4] A national tour followed with Hitchcock, Paul, Russell and Scott joined by Nigel Macara (ex-Tamam Shud, Ariel) on drums and Brenton White (Skintight)on guitar.[1][2] Brenton White rehearsed but did not perform with Air Supply

I can see the pain living in your eyes
And I know how hard you try
You deserve to have so much more
I can feel your heart and I sympathize
And I'll never criticize
All you've ever meant to my life

I don't want to let you down
I don't want to lead you on
I don't want to hold you back
From where you might belong

You would never ask me why
My heart is so disguised
I just can't live a lie anymore
I would rather hurt myself
Than to ever make you cry
There's nothing left to say but goodbye

You deserve the chance at the kind of love
I'm not sure I'm worthy of
Losing you is painful to me

I don't want to let you down
I don't want to lead you on
I don't want to hold you back
From where you might belong

You would never ask me why
My heart is so disguised
I just can't live a lie anymore
I would rather hurt myself
Than to ever make you cry
There's nothing left to say, but goodbye

You would never ask me why
My heart is so disguised
I just can't live a lie anymore
I would rather hurt myself
Than to ever make you cry
There's nothing left to try
Though it's gonna hurt us both
There's no other way than to say goodbye

From Russia With Love (Cover Version of Matt Monro)

From Russia With Love ...

This beautiful sound track was here before I was born. Fortunately I managed to watch it many times and love this song too. I decided to have this song tribute to our beloved President of Russia. Mr. Vladimir Putin Владимир Путин whom have shown many good leadership against EVIL PARASITES. I am hoping he would continue do his duty well and get rid of all evil dead cults asap before it become a serious threat to humanity. This soundtrack was sung by our late beloved Matt Monro, the man with a golden voice ...

"The first one won't kill you; not the second, not even the third... not till you crawl over here and you KISS MY FOOT!"

― Donald "Red" Grant to James Bond.[src]

From Russia with Love is the second film in the James Bond film series, and the second to star Sean Connery as Bond. Released in 1963 in the UK, the film earned over $78 million. It was written by Richard Maibaum and Johanna Harwood and was based on Ian Fleming's fifth Bond novel of the same name.

201409200631-00170 From Russia With Love

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

From Russia with Love is the soundtrack for the second James Bond film of the same name. This is the first series film with John Barry as the primary soundtrack composer.

John Barry, arranger of Monty Norman's "James Bond Theme" for Dr. No, would be the dominant Bond series composer for most of its history and the inspiration for fellow series composer, David Arnold (who uses cues from this soundtrack in his own for Tomorrow Never Dies).

Production

Following the decision of the producers not to use Monty Norman, though keeping his "James Bond Theme", Harry Saltzman decided on using the then popular Lionel Bart of Oliver! fame. Bart was unable to read or write music, but he offered to compose the music and lyrics for a title song to the film.
The producers chose John Barry to score the film. Barry had not only arranged and conducted the "James Bond Theme" from the previous film, but had already scored some films such as Beat Girl and Never Let Go. Barry's group also charted at No. 13 in the November 1962 UK charts with a different arrangement of the Bond theme from that heard in the film.[1]
The title song was sung by Matt Monro. Monro's vocal version is played during the film (as source music on a radio) and properly over the film's end titles. The title credit music is a lively instrumental version of the tune preceded by a brief Barry-composed "James Bond is Back" then segueing into the "James Bond Theme". On the original film soundtrack, Alan Haven played a jazzy organ over the theme but this version was not released on the soundtrack album. The tune also appears in a soft string arrangement as a theme for Tania. In Germany, the original release featured an end title track cover version called Die Wolga ist Weit sung by Ruthe Berlé.[2]
Originally planning to use local Turkish music as Norman had used Jamaican music on Dr No, Barry accompanied the film crew to Istanbul, however he found nothing suitable for the film.[3] There are different tracks of Turkish-type music in the film that do not appear on the soundtrack (the track "Leila Dances" is not heard in the film).
In this film, Barry introduced the percussive "007" that came to be considered the 'secondary James Bond Theme'.[citation needed] Barry's instrumental group The John Barry Seven had had a UK chart hit with a cover version of Elmer Bernstein's The Magnificent Seven; both that tune and "007" featured seven beats. It is used in various Bond films starring Sean Connery and also in Moonraker, starring Roger Moore. The arrangement appears twice on this soundtrack album; the second version, titled "007 Takes the Lektor", is the one used during the gunfight at the gypsy camp and also during Bond's theft of the Lektor decoding machine (the soundtrack album version is not heard in the film).
The completed film features a holdover from Norman's Dr. No music – the post-rocket-launch music from Dr. No (after Bond disrupts Dr. No's attempts to jam the takeoff) appears in From Russia with Love at the conclusion of the helicopter attack, and also at SPECTRE's attempt to intercept Bond's speedboat. This cue is absent from the From Russia with Love soundtrack album. The original Barry arrangement of the "James Bond Theme" for Dr. No was inserted by the producers in the film when Bond searches his room in Istanbul for microphones. Barry did a new arrangement of the theme used when Bond leaves London and flies into Istanbul titled "James Bond with Bongos" that Billy Strange did a cover version of for the US charts.
Barry noted that Bart's lyrics used the film's title, but had nothing to do with the film's story, a matter he would rectify when he was assigned the next Bond film, 1964's Goldfinger, which was the first Bond film for which he had total creative control over the soundtrack, including the theme song's music (Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley would contribute the theme's lyrics).
Barry's "Stalking", the music for the pre-credit sequence, is echoed by composer Marvin Hamlisch in his score for the 1977 Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me.

From Russia with love I fly to you,
much wiser since my good-bye to you,
I've traveled the world to learn,
I must return from Russia with love.

I've seen places, faces and smiled for a moment,
but oh, you haunted me so,
Still my tongue tied, young pride,
would not let my love for you show,

in case you'd say no.

To Russia I flew but there and then,
I suddenly knew you'd care again,
my running around is through,
I fly to you from Russia with love.

Making Love Out of Nothing at All (Cover Version of Air Supply)

Making Love Out of Nothing at All  ...

Here is one of the most challenging song I ever deliver it successfully. After years of absent of serious training on this song, I am way out from my expectation. I used sang this song well in the bathroom when I was still in my schooling. LOL. This crazy song comes with very wide range of vocal chord. I have difficult time to keep it natural way even recently I came to know one Chinese singer from China did sung it very successfully and caught me by surprises. Greatly impressed how he able to sing like the original singer of talented musical artist Graham Russell. Graham Russell, who I met him personally behind the stage, had a very powerful voices that can go extremely wide range of voices as he did carried out this song in extremely beautiful expressed. Later I came to know another talent musical artist Bonnie Tyler !!! also sang this song too.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Making Love Out of Nothing At All" is a power ballad written and composed by Jim Steinman and first released by Australian soft rock band Air Supply for their 1983 compilation album Greatest Hits. It reached number 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 (blocked by "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler, giving Steinman a consecutive peak of two songs).
The song has been covered by many other artists, the most successful being that of Bonnie Tyler.

Composition
The song opens with a few bars of the melody played on piano. The first part of the song lists several things that the vocalist knows how to do, followed by something that they do not. The structure is similar to Steinman's "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)", where the chorus consists of things that the vocalist would and then would not do.

And I know just where to touch you
And I know just what to prove
I know when to pull you closer
And I know when to let you loose
Like the final lines of each chorus in "Anything for Love", the end of "Making Love" contrasts with the previous stating what he doesn't know how to do. The final part of the verse laments:

But I don't know how to leave you
And I'll never let you fall
And I don't know how you do it
Making love out of nothing at all
The title is repeated six times, with background vocals supplying the "making love" part, and the lead vocalist singing the last part of the line.
Strong drumbeats begin the next section of the song, which concentrates upon the attributes of its subject:

Every time I see you all the rays of the sun
Are streaming through the waves in your hair
And every star in the sky is taking aim at your eyes like a spotlight
There is an instrumental interlude, dominated by the melody of the title line played by piano. The final verse returns to the structure of the first. The original Air Supply version had an American football analogy, with "I can make the runner stumble, I can make the final block; And I can make every tackle at the sound of the whistle, I can make all the stadiums rock."

I know just how to whisper
And I know just how to cry
I know just where to find the answers
And I know just how to lie

I know just how to fake it
And I know just how to scheme
I know just when to face the truth
And then I know just when to dream

And I know just where to touch you
And I know just what to prove
I know when to pull you closer
And I know when to let you loose

And I know the night is fading
And I know the time's gonna fly
And I'm never gonna tell you everything I gotta tell you
But I know I gotta give it a try

And I know the roads to riches
And I know the ways to fame
I know all the rules and then I know how to break 'em
And I always know the name of the game

But I don't know how to leave you
And I'll never let you fall
And I don't know how you do it
Making love out nothing at all

(Making love) out of nothing at all
(Making love) out of nothing at all
(Making love)
Out of nothing at all
(Making love) out of nothing at all
(Making love) out of nothing at all
(Making love) out of nothing at all

Every time I see you all the rays of the sun are all
Streaming through the waves in your hair
And every star in the sky is taking aim at your eyes
Like a spotlight

The beating of my heart is a drum and it's lost
And it's looking for a rhythm like you
You can take the darkness from the pit of the night
And turn it to a beacon burning endlessly bright

I've gotta follow it 'cause everything I know
Well it's nothing till I give it to you

I can make the runner stumble
I can make the final block
And I can make every tackle at the sound of the whistle,
I can make all the stadiums rock

I can make tonight forever
Or I can make it disappear by the dawn
And I can make you every promise that has ever been made
And I can make all your demons be gone

But I'm never gonna make it without you
Do you really wanna see me crawl
And I'm never gonna make it like you do
Making love out of nothing at all

(Making love) out of nothing at all
(Making love) out of nothing at all
(Making love)
Out of nothing at all
(Making love) out of nothing at all
(Making love) out of nothing at all
(Making love, love)

Out of nothing at all (Making love)
Out of nothing at all (Making love)
Out of nothing at all (Making love, love)

Out of nothing at all (Making love)
Out of nothing at all (Making love)
Out of nothing at all (Making love, love, love)

So as the result of that song I am also going to live twice, One for my life and one for my dream. I have a dream to be the next Susan Boyle, a professional singer to entertain the whole world.

Blofeld: "James Bond. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Ernst Stavro Blofeld. They told me you were assassinated in Hong Kong."
James Bond: "Yes, this is my second life."
Blofeld: "You only live twice, Mr. Bond."

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"You Only Live Twice", performed by Nancy Sinatra, is the theme song to the 1967 James Bond film of the same name. Music was composed and produced by veteran James Bond composer John Barry, with lyrics by Leslie Bricusse. The song is widely recognized for its striking opening bars, featuring a simple 2-bar theme in the high octaves of the violins and lush harmonies from French horns. It is considered by some to be among the best James Bond theme songs,[1] and has become one of Nancy Sinatra's best known hits. Shortly after Barry's production, Sinatra's producer Lee Hazlewood released a more guitar-based single version.

The song has been extensively covered by artists, from Coldplay to Soft Cell, Björk and Little Anthony & The Imperials to Shirley Bassey. Robbie Williams notably re-recorded the opening bars of the song for his hit "Millennium".

James Bond veteran John Barry returned to the franchise to produce the score. The lyrics were by Leslie Bricusse, who had previously cowritten the lyrics for the theme to Goldfinger. Julie Rogers was asked to perform the song, and recorded it with a 50 or 60 piece orchestra at CTS Studios. The song was quite different from the later Sinatra version, with a more Oriental flavour. John Barry said: "It was usually the producers that said 'this isn't working, there's a certain something that it needed'. If that energy wasn't there, if that mysterioso kind of thing wasn't there, then it wasn't going to work for the movie."[2] The song shares only two lines with Sinatra's, "You only live twice", and "you’ll pay the price". The film's producer Cubby Broccoli, wanted his friend Frank Sinatra to perform the song. Frank suggested that they use his daughter instead. Barry wanted to use Aretha Franklin, but the producers insisted that he use Nancy instead, who was enjoying great popularity in the wake of her single, "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'".[3]

The version (2:46) featured in the film's opening title sequence and on the soundtrack LP is in the key of B and has a single vocal track. The song was recorded with a 60 piece orchestra on 2 May 1967 at the CTS Studios in Bayswater, London.[4] Sinatra later recalled that she was incredibly nervous during the recording, and it took around 30 takes to acquire enough material.[5] Producer John Barry eventually created the final product by incorporating vocals from 25 takes.[6]

Sinatra's American producer Lee Hazlewood created the version that was released as a single. It is in the key of C and features vocal overdubbing, backing chorus, brass and stinging twangy guitar, with a running time of 2:56.
The recognizable opening string melody of the song originates from Alexander Tcherepnin's First Piano Concerto (op.12), composed in 1919, although in his version the initial motif is succeeded by a falling octave pattern instead of transposing and repeating the motif in a different key, as is characteristic to "You Only Live Twice".

You only live twice or so it seems,
one life for yourself and one for your dreams,
you drift through the years and life seems tame,
till one dream appears and love is it's name.

And love is a stranger who'll beckon you on,
don't think of the danger or the stranger is gone,
this dream is for you, so pay the price,
make one dream come true, you only live twice.

And love is a stranger who'll beckon you on,
don't think of the danger or the stranger is gone,
this dream is for you, so pay the price,
make one dream come true, you only live twice.

And love is a stranger who'll beckon you on,
don't think of the danger or the stranger is gone,
this dream is for you, so pay the price,
make one dream come true, you only live twice.
