Writing's On The Wall (Cover Version of Sam Smith)

Writing's On The Wall

Using more natural approach, here come again my singing on this song.  Writing's On The wall.  It gonna be my signature song too.
"Writing's on the Wall" is a song by English singer and songwriter Sam Smith; from the 2015 James Bond film Spectre. The song was released as a digital download on 25 September 2015.[1] The song was written by Smith and Jimmy Napes, and produced by the latter alongside Steve Fitzmaurice and Disclosure and released on 25 September 2015.

"Writing's on the Wall" received mixed reviews, especially when compared to previous Bond theme songs.[2][3][4][5] The mixed reception to the song led to Shirley Bassey trending on Twitter on the day it was released.[6][7] The single became the first Bond movie theme to reach number one in the UK Singles Chart. It also reached the top 10 in a few other European countries, but unlike other James Bond themes, it was not as successful outside Europe, only peaking at number 43 in Canada and Australia and number 71 on the Billboard Hot 100. Only the instrumental version of the song appeared on the film's official soundtrack album. The song won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards[8] and the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 88th Academy Awards.

From: The Guardian, the free online New Portal.
Sam Smith’s theme song for the new James Bond movie Spectre has become the first in the history of the franchise to top the charts – despite being greeted with mixed reviews.

Writing’s On the Wall soared straight to No 1 in in its first week of release with 70,000 combined sales and streams. It makes Smith the first artist to achieve a No 1 song with a Bond theme, beating his predecessor Adele whose song Skyfall reached No 2.

Of the 23 previous Bond themes, many of which have performed dismally in the charts, only Duran Duran’s 1985 track A View to a Kill matched Skyfall’s chart rating. Bond classics such as Shirley Bassey’s Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever did not even break into the top 20.

Smith, 23, beat off competition from Justin Bieber to get his fifth No 1 with the track. It reportedly took him just 20 minutes to write and he called it the “quickest song I’ve ever written”.

In a video accompanying the song’s release, Smith said the lyrics, were “not about me, about my life, it’s the James Bond song and it’s the first time I’ve had to play a little bit of the character”.

The London-born songwriter told Official Charts that Writing’s On the Wall making No 1 was “a special moment I’ll never forget”.

Smith said: “It’s incredible that it’s become the first No 1 Bond theme song. It’s been an unforgettable experience working with [producer] Barbara [Broccoli] and [director] Sam [Mendes] to become part of this British legacy.”

Smith’s emotionally wrought take on the Bond theme tune was greeted with a mixed response from critics and fans. The Guardian’s Alexis Petridis wrote that it sounded “less like a Bond theme song than a latterday pop ballad – the kind of thing that X Factor contestants have a crack at”.

However, the song did gain the approval of former Bond Roger Moore who tweeted: “Sam Smith has delivered a very haunting and wonderfully orchestrated #Spectre theme song. Well done!”

Some have also speculated that the lyrics, which include lines such as “How do I live? How do I breathe?/ When you’re not here I’m suffocating/ I want to feel love, run through my blood” might indicate that Spectre will showcase a more sentimental side to Bond when the film is released at the end of October.

According to Smith, however, Mendes had tweaked the lyrics to make sure Bond did not seem too vulnerable.

Despite Adele not reaching No 1 with her theme song, Smith still has quite a legacy to follow – Skyfall was widely regarded to be the best Bond tune in years.

It won the Bond franchise its first Oscar in 47 years for Best Original Song and Daniel Craig admitted that hearing Adele’s theme had brought tears to his eyes. He said: “I cried. From the opening bars I knew immediately, then the voice kicked in and it was exactly what I’d wanted from the beginning. It just got better and better because it fitted the movie. In fact the more of the movie we made, the more it fitted it.”

A survey released on the same day as Writing’s On the Wall also names Skyfall as the British public’s favourite ever Bond theme song, followed by Bassey’s Goldfinger and Live And Let Die by Paul McCartney.

Lyrics

I've been here before
But always hit the floor
I've spent a lifetime running
And I always get away
But with you I'm feeling something
That makes me want to stay

I'm prepared for this
I never shoot to miss
But I feel like a storm is coming
If I'm gonna make it through the day
Then there's no more use in running
This is something I gotta face

If I risk it all
Could you break my fall?

How do I live? How do I breathe?
When you're not here I'm suffocating
I want to feel love, run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?
For you I have to risk it all
'Cause the writing's on the wall

A million shards of glass
That haunt me from my past
As the stars begin to gather
And the light begins to fade
When all hope begins to shatter
Know that I won't be afraid

If I risk it all
Could you break my fall?

How do I live? How do I breathe?
When you're not here I'm suffocating
I want to feel love, run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?
For you I have to risk it all
'Cause the writing's on the wall

The writing's on the wall

How do I live? How do I breathe?
When you're not here I'm suffocating
I want to feel love, run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?
How do I live? How do I breathe?
When you're not here I'm suffocating
I want to feel love, run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?
For you I have to risk it all
'Cause the writing's on the wall

Lyrics

All my life was a paper
Once plain, pure and white
Till you moved with your pen, changin' moods now and then
Till the balance was right
Then you added some music
Every note was in place
And anybody could see all the changes in me by the look on my face

And you decorated my life
Created a world
Where dreams are a part
And you decorated my life
By paintin' your love all over my heart
You decorated my life

Like a rhyme with no reason
In an unfinished song
There was no harmony, life meant nothin' to me until you came along
And you brought out the colors
What a gentle surprise
Now I'm able to see all the things life can be, shinin' soft in your eyes

And you decorated my life
Created a world
Where dreams are a part
And you decorated my life
By paintin' your love
All over my heart
You decorated my life

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Ships" is a rock ballad written and originally performed by British musician Ian Hunter. The song was first released on Hunter's fourth solo album, You're Never Alone with a Schizophrenic in 1979. It was later recorded by singer Barry Manilow for his sixth studio album, One Voice. His version peaked at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song is said to be about Hunter's relationship with his father.[1]

We walked to the sea
Just my father and me
And the dogs played around on the sand
Winter cold cut the air
Hangin' still everywhere
Dressed in gray, did he say hold my hand

I said, love's easier when it's far away
We sat and watched the distant light

We're two ships that pass in the night
We both smile and we say it's alright
We're still here, it's just that we're out of sight
Like those ships that pass in the night

There's a boat on the line
Where the sea meets the sky
There's another that rides far behind
And it seems you and I
Are like strangers, a wide ways apart
As we drift on through time

He said, it's harder now, we're far away
We only read you when you write

We're two ships that pass in the night
And we smile when we say it's alright
We're still here, it's just that we're out of sight
Like those ships that pass in the night

We're just ships that pass in the night
And we smile when we say it's alright
We're still here, it's just that we're out of sight
Like those ships that pass in the night

"My Heart Will Go On", also called the "Love Theme from Titanic", is the main theme song to James Cameron's blockbuster film Titanic. Its music was composed by James Horner, its lyrics were written by Will Jennings, and it was produced by Walter Afanasieff and Simon Franglen;[1] recorded by Celine Dion and released in 1997.[2]

Originally released in 1997 on Dion's album Let's Talk About Love and the Titanic soundtrack album, the romantic song went to number 1 all over the world, including the United States, Canada, Ireland, United Kingdom and Australia. "My Heart Will Go On" was released in Australia and Germany on December 8, 1997, and in the rest of the world in January and February 1998.[3]

The song became Dion's biggest hit, and one of the best-selling singles of all time, and was the world's best-selling single of 1998. My Heart Will Go On

From: Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia.
James Horner had originally composed the music for the song as an instrumental motif which he used in several scenes during Titanic; the main theme of the song being inspired by the song Flying Dutchman by Jethro Tull.[citation needed] He then wanted to prepare a full vocal version of it, for use in the end credits of the film. Director James Cameron did not want such a song, but Will Jennings went ahead anyway and wrote the lyrics. When Dion originally heard the song, she did not want to record it.[5] Horner showed the piano sketch to Simon Franglen, who was working with him on electronic textures and synthesizers for the film score. Franglen, who had, himself, worked with Dion for several years on many of her major hits to date,[6] programmed and arranged an extensive demo to take to Dion.

In Hitmaker: The Man and His Music by Tommy Mottola, he claims that Dion recorded the song in one take, and that demo is what was released. Mottola states that since so much money was on the line for Cameron's film that Cameron felt obligated to include a theme song to promote the movie.[citation needed]

Dion's manager and husband René Angélil convinced her to sing on this demo version, which she had not done for many years. Horner waited until Cameron was in an appropriate mood before presenting him with the song. After playing it several times, Cameron declared his approval, even though he worried that he might be criticized for "going commercial at the end of the movie". Cameron also wanted to appease anxious studio executives and "saw that a hit song from his movie could only be a positive factor in guaranteeing its completion."[7]

The song is written in the key of E major, though the chorus is in the relative key of C# minor. The verses follow the chord progression of E—Bsus4—Aadd9—E—B. The chorus has the chord progression of C♯m—B—A—B. The song modulates to F minor in the final chorus, and ends in the key of Ab major.[8] It contains heavy emphasis on the instrumental arranging. Usage of flute is prominent, backed by melodic use of strings and rhythm guitars.

Every night in my dreams
I see you, I feel you
That is how I know you go on

Far across the distance
And spaces between us
You have come to show you go on

Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on

Love can touch us one time
And last for a lifetime
And never let go till we're gone

Love was when I loved you
One true time I hold to
In my life we'll always go on

Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on

You're here, there's nothing I fear
And I know that my heart will go on
We'll stay forever this way
You are safe in my heart
And my heart will go on and on.

Have You Ever Seen The Rain (Cover Version of Creedence Clearwater Revival)

Have You Ever Seen The Rain

My first attempt singing song like this.  So happy listening and also ask yourself who is the one haven't seen the rain before?  LOL it is rain of fired arrows ....

"Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" is a song written by John Fogerty and released as a single in 1971 from the album Pendulum (1970) by roots rock group Creedence Clearwater Revival. The song charted highest in Canada, reaching number one on the RPM 100 national singles chart in March 1971.[1] In the U.S., in the same year it peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart (where it was listed as "Have You Ever Seen the Rain? / Hey Tonight", together with the B-side).[2] On Cash Box pop chart, it peaked at number three. In the UK, it reached number 36. It was the group's eighth gold-selling single.[3]

Some have speculated that the song's lyrics are referencing the Vietnam War, with the "rain" being a metaphor for bombs falling from the sky.[4] In his review of the song for Allmusic website, Mark Deming suggests that the song is about the idealism of the 1960s and about it fading in the wake of events such as the Altamont Free Concert and the Kent State shootings and that Fogerty is saying that the same issues of the 1960s still existed in the 1970s but that people were no longer fighting for them.[5] However, Fogerty himself has said in interviews and prior to playing the song in concert that the song is about rising tension within CCR and the imminent departure of his brother Tom from the band.[6] In an interview, Fogerty stated that the song was written about the fact that they were on the top of the charts, and had surpassed all of their wildest expectations of fame and fortune. They were rich and famous, but somehow all members of the band at the time were depressed and unhappy. Thus the line "Have you ever seen the rain, coming down on a sunny day." The band split in October the following year after the release of the album Mardi Gras.

In a literal sense the song describes a sunshower such in the lyric "It'll rain a sunny day" and the chorus "have you ever seen the rain Comin' down on a sunny day?".[7] These events are particularly common in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, but less common in other parts of the country, due to localized atmospheric wind sheer effects.[7] In southern regional dialect there is even a term for it "the devil beating his wife".[7]

John Fogerty released a live version of the song on his The Long Road Home - In Concert DVD which was recorded at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles, California on September 15, 2005.

Someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm
I know
It's been comin' for some time

When it's over, so they say
It'll rain a sunny day
I know
Shinin' down like water

I wanna know, have you ever seen the rain
I wanna know, have you ever seen the rain
Comin' down on a sunny day

Yesterday and days before
Sun is cold and rain is hard
I know
Been that play for all my time

Till forever upon it goes
Through the circle fast and slow
I know
It can't stop, I wonder

I wanna know, have you ever seen the rain
I wanna know, have you ever seen the rain
Comin' down on a sunny day

Yeah

I wanna know, have you ever seen the rain
I wanna know, have you ever seen the rain
Comin' down on a sunny day
