"Here I Am (Just When I Thought I Was Over You)" is the title of a popular song from 1981 (see 1981 in music) by the Australian group Air Supply. It was written by Michael Masser, Norman Sallitt, Linda Creed and included on the group's album The One That You Love.
To prevent confusion, the song was originally released as "Here I Am (Just When I Thought I Was Over You)" so as not to be confused by the group's No. 1 hit song "The One That You Love" which contains the lyrics: "Here I am, the one that you love."
Released as a single in the fall of 1981, "Here I Am (Just When I Thought I Was Over You)" peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in November of that year, remaining in the Top 40 for 15 weeks.[1] The song also spent three weeks atop the Billboard adult contemporary chart.[2]
Lead vocals on "Here I Am (Just When I Thought I Was Over You)" were performed by the two vocalists in the group, Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock.
Here I am, playing with those memories again
And just when I thought time had set me free
Those thoughts of you keep taunting me
Holding you, a feeling I never outgrew
Though each and every part of me has tried
Only you can fill that space inside
So there's no sense pretending
My heart it's not mending
Just when I thought I was over you
And just when I thought I could stand on my own
Oh baby, those memories come crashing through
And I just can't go on without you
On my own, I've tried to make the best of it alone
I've done everything I can to ease the pain
But only you can stop the rain
I just can't live without you
I miss everything about you
Just when I thought I was over you
And just when I thought I could stand on my own
Oh baby, those memories come crashing through
And I just can't go on without, go on without
Yes, just go on without you
(Just when I thought I was over you)
Without you
(And just when I thought I could stand on my own)
Without you
(Just when I thought I was over you)
Without you
(And just when I thought I could stand on my own)
Without you
(Just when I thought I was over you)
Without you
(And just when I thought I could stand on my own)
Without you
(Just when I thought I was over you)
(Fade)
